(15 Augl 1838 - 5 Nov 1919) O. P. Wells, for
many years one of the prominent business men of Neillsville, Clark
County, Wis., passed away Nov. 5, 1919. O. Phillip Wells was born
at Springfield, Pa., Aug. 15, 1838. He was married to Miss Angeline
Graham March 9, 1858. They came to Neillsville in March 1866, and
Mr. Wells entered into partnership with George Lloyd in the
hardware business; four years later he bought out Mr. Lloyd's
interest and continued in business until five years ago. His wife
died May 21, 1906, and since that time he has made his home with
his daughters. Mr. Wells was a
man of great industry. Through all his younger years and well on
into old age he worked early and late. He was a man of fine traits
and character, honest and fair in his dealings and aiming to do his
work in life thoroughly and well. He was a kind husband and father
and a good citizen for the community. His life was one of
usefulness. He leaves two
daughters, Mrs. W. J. Marsh and Mrs. Homer C. Clark. One daughter,
Emma, died when a little girl. The funeral took
place at the W. J. Marsh home Saturday afternoon, Rev. G. W.
